Camera Overlay

Camera Overlay places your webcam feed on top of a screen recording. It gives tutorials, product demos, and async updates a personal presence without requiring a separate video editor.

Set up the camera#

1. Open Settings → Recording.
2. Enable the camera option.
3. Select a connected camera and check the preview.
4. Start a screen recording.

The camera is recorded alongside the screen. You can reposition and style the overlay before recording or refine it later in the timeline editor.

Shape and framing#

Adjust the overlay position, size, shape, border, and framing so it supports the content instead of covering it. If the important content moves, add a transform action on the camera track and change its position for that part of the recording.

Camera Overlay is currently available for cameras connected to the computer. Device capture for iPhone and iPad is documented separately in Device Capture.
